13872Radhe Shyam’s theatrical release date confirmed
On February 2nd, 2022, lead actor Pooja Hedge shared on her Twitter page that Radhe Shyam would release in theatres from March 11th.
Radhe Shyam was originally scheduled to release in theatres in late-July 2021, but like so many cinema projects from around the world, had to be delayed because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Fellow lead actor Prabhas would then take to social media to share the official promotional poster for Radhe Shyam, confirming that a new release date had been set for January 14th, 2022 – coining with the Sankranthi festival.
Unfortunately, on December 5th, 2021, it was then confirmed that the targeted release date had been pushed back once again, barring to the surge in Omicron cases.
Pooja Hedge explained on Twitter that “We have to postpone the release of our film #RadheShyam due to the ongoing covid situation.”
“We have been trying our best for the past few days but considering the growing cases of Omicron variant it looks like we will have to wait for our labour of love to get to the big screens.” – Pooja Hedge, via Twitter.
The actress ended the statement by stating the movie “is a story about love vs destiny and we are sure that your love will help us rise over these tough times together.”
Thankfully, fans can be confident that the new theatrical release date of March 11th will now be the final destination for the highly anticipated film.
- RRR: Theatrical release date finally confirmed for new movie
At the time of writing, there is no public information indicating that the international broadcasting rights have been acquired by any of the major streaming services.
Before today’s announcement on the theatrical release, there had been some concerns that the movie could skip its cinema-run completely and utilise a straight-to-streaming format.
According to The Times of India, the team wanted the film to release first in theatres “only as it contains appealing visual grandeur which can only be enjoyed fully on the big screens with supporting Dolby/DTS sound instead of watching it on mobiles and laptops.”
However, fans can be hopeful that a major streaming platform will acquire Radhe Shyam over the next few weeks as the promotional campaign ramps up for the March premiere.
Not only is the film experiencing a high level of fan demand around the world, but T-Series have made a habit of striking big deals with the major platforms over the past year.
In fact, T-Series’ last five original productions have each landed on a major OTT service: Haseen Dillruba and Sardar Ka Grandson (Netflix), Sherni (Amazon Prime Video), Bhuj: Pride of India and Shiddat (Disney Hotstar).
