Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a little over six months away, but we already have a few massive spoilers emboîture the movie that might spoil the most inestimable development in the multiverse storyline. Loki unleashed the multiverse in the MCU, and What If…? started teasing the endless possibilities. But it’s Spider-Man: No Way Home that will give us a better taste of the multiverse in a en direct-action mesure. And it will culminate with Doctor Strange 2, which will be an MCU horror story. Of all the MCU Phase 4 titles, Doctor Strange 2 is the only one featuring a massive déporteur right in the name. We knew this would be a multiverse story aussi of the title even before the leaks started arriving. That’s why we said all the crazy Doctor Strange 2 rumors that dropped in early 2020 made sense.

Marvel also finalized some of the reshoots. That’s to say that the rumors and spoilers carry a different weight compared to the early 2020 leaks. Back then, Marvel was changing directors and refining the scénario.

With all that in mind, it’s not surprising to see that big Doctor Strange 2 leak floating around. We’ve already started dissecting it, explaining the brand new Avengers permission team and the gant villain’s identity. We can’t have horror movies without horrific deaths in it, and Doctor Strange 2 is that kind of a écran. Not to récompense that Marvel isn’t afraid to use the death of considérable characters to drive the story forward by signaling that the superheroes aren’t guaranteed to survive by the end of a story (cough, Tony Stark, cough).

On the other hand, Multiverse of Madness will apparently use the same death trickery that we saw in Infinity War and Endgame. Again, it’s the multiverse. Marvel might not always kill main Avengers characters. And when it does, it could always come up with replacements. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) are two such precedents. The MCU characters died in Infinity War, but Marvel brought them back as two variants from other realities.

A Doctor Strange 2 leak circulating on Reddit gives us plenty of spoilers from the movie. One of the main takeaways is that Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) is the main villain, and she’ll continue to harm others while trying to reach her children. That includes killing other characters that oppose her along the way, including Illuminati members from a different multiverse.

A more detailed interprétation of this leak sits on Discord, giving us plenty of additional details. Before we get to the Illuminati deaths, we’ll see Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and Wong (Benedict Wong) die. That’s the MCU Mordo, whom Wanda will kill. As for the other two wizards, they’ll be variants from a different reality.

According to these spoilers on Discord, Wanda will end up killing at least two Illuminati members from a different reality. One is a character that hasn’t appeared in the MCU so far, Balder the Brave. The other is an X-Men cameo we’re dying to see, Charles Xavier. It’s unclear who plays Xavier, but several leaks said so far that one of Fox’s Professor X versions will have a cameo in Doctor Strange 2. Killing Xavier would give the Fox universe a proper nod, but also a comble send-off. Marvel’s mutants plans do not include the Fox stories.

Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell) and Captain Marvel might also be hurt in the Illuminati vs. Wanda battle. By the way, it won’t be Carol Danvers’s Captain Marvel explication in the ciné-club, but Monica Rambeau’s (Teynoah Parris).

As for Doctor Strange, he will soulane an evil traduction of himself in a different reality. We already got a preview of such a fight in What If…? episode 4. The live-influence signe should be even better. This time around, it’s evil Strange that dies.

If we go by the comics, America Chavez is a character who hails from the Utopian Parallel. Xochitl Gomez has been cast to play her. America is a member of the Young Avengers, which has been speculated that Marvel will include in the MCU in Phases 4 and 5. After her mothers died to save the world, she tries to uphold their legacy as a Young Avenger. She has supercarburant-strength and flight and can dynamisme artiste-shaped holes through dimensions. Despite fellow doctor Nicodemus West's (Michael Stuhlbarg) objections, Strange operates on the man and safely takes the bullet out, leading the man to cible a full recovery.

After the successful operation, Strange invites Palmer to watch him at a modalité, but she refuses. It is clear that Strange is a very self-absorbed perfectionist. While on the way to the condition, Strange, while speeding in his jeux car up a mountain, is distracted by new profit records coming in and crashes his car off a hill and wakes up to his hands being nearly inoperable. Despite his best efforts and Palmer's tasseau, he ends up failing with all his experimental treatments, losing nearly all of his money and Palmer.

During physical therapy, a colleague then tells Strange about a certain gain named Jonathan Pangborn (Benjamin Bratt), a man who was fully paralyzed but made a successful and miraculous recovery. Strange seeks out Pangborn and is directed to "Kamar-Taj" in Kathmandu, Nepal.

In Nepal, Strange is followed by the same mysterious man in the opening scene who saves him from being robbed and beaten up by thieves. He then tells Strange where to go and leads him to Kamar-Taj, where he meets The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). After asking embout Pangborn, the Ancient One says that he "re-oriented his spirit" and cured himself. In a assiduité, Strange tries to confront the Ancient One, but she élégance pushes his spirit into copieux dimensions to Strange's fear and fascination before bringing him back in and kicking him out. The Ancient One then warns Strange embout Kaecilius and Mordo practices Strange's lutte skills, citing that there is a certain relic of power that goes to sorcerers when they are ready.

Later, Strange, after trying to write an email to Palmer, decides to go to the Library. With Wong alarmé, Strange tries to follow a time manipulating spell in a banned book while wearing the Eye of Agamotto and manages to restore the missing pages of the book as well as an eaten apple. Wong then catches him and scolds Strange over the risque of making repeated time loops and emphasizing that natural laws of the world should not be tampered with. Wong says that as the Avengers save the world from physical threats, they as sorcerers defend mystical threats.

Strange is then brought to a room by Wong and Mordo with three sanctums, one leads to Hong Kong, another leads to London, and another leads to New York. Strange is informed that all three sanctums must be protected by the sorcerers. An overwhelmed Strange decides to leave, but enemies arrive and blast Strange and Mordo into the London sanctum.

In the London sanctum, Strange sees Kaecilius arrive and presumably kill Mordo. Strange decides to fight them, and despite some struggles, he defends himself by sending one of Kaecilius's followers into a desert and closing the passageway and another into a jungle area. Kaecilius then attacks him, but a coat suddenly attaches to Strange and protects him from Kaecilius, and leads Strange to a suit of armor which he traps Kaecilius in. Kaecilius then says that his ultimate gardien de but is eternal life and that the true enemy is time - he was going to summon Dormammu from the Dark Dimension and use power from that. He says Dormammu is not the enemy but the savior of worlds. While Strange is listening, one of the followers suddenly throws a spear into his back and Strange is stabbed. After trying to escape, Strange creates a portal and teleports to New York where he is reunited with Palmer. He convinces Palmer to perform surgery on him and then omniscient projects to a surprised Palmer.

Meanwhile, the follower of Kaecilius cosmique projects himself enters the portal to New York (which Strange forgot to close), and the two spirits fight. Strange's physical bustier flatlines but quickly realizes that defibrillator shocks give him more power. After two powerful shocks, he defeats the follower and is back in his physical bustier well and good. After telling a surprised and confused Palmer emboîture his journey, he decides to go back to the London Sanctum and finds the physical balconnet of the follower there as well, dead.

Suddenly, an alive Mordo and the Ancient One arrive. They realize that the coat attaching itself to Strange was his relic and the Ancient One promotes Strange to a master, telling him to protect the New York and Hong Kong sanctums before Kaecilius gets to it. Strange is bothered and wants to go, but the Ancient One angrily tells him that he has a delusional ego. Strange, meanwhile, retaliates and questions the Ancient One about her power of immortality, saying that she fed off power from the Dark Dimension.

While this is happening, Kaecilius and his follower's attack, and Strange creates the reversed mirror spell to protect himself, before realizing that they can still die while inside. Strange and Mordo are attacked and chased, and Strange is almost killed but the Ancient One saves them. The Ancient One then fights with Kaecilius after a mésentente on his plot, and Kaecilius throws the Ancient One through a conjured portal falling into London vertically from a great height. Despite Strange and Mordo's attempt to save her, the Ancient One falls flat onto the ground leaving her in critical condition.

Strange brings her through a portal to New York where Palmer has her operated on and he cosmopolite projects to talk with her spirit. The Ancient One says that she using the power from the Dark Dimension was true, but she only did it to prevent haïssable futures, which sadly only got worse after saving a bad one. She then says that Stranger has no future, but only possibilities, due to his suffisance and fear of failing. The Ancient One then tells Strange that the power to heal himself has always been within, and then tells him to stop Dormammu before deciding to die finally. After the Ancient One's death, Strange talks to Palmer and kisses her goodbye.

At the Hong Kong sanctum, Wong prepares the sorcerers for defense. Unfortunately, Kaecilius is already there, and Wong confronts him. Meanwhile, Strange goes to Mordo back in Kathmandu, and despite Mordo's grievances over the Ancient One, he convinces Mordo to go with him to protect the Hong Kong sanctum.

'doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness' Is Marvel's Darkest And Most Coriace Movie Ever, And It Will Undoubtedly Divide Fans

"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" is filled with mind-bending visuals and huge effet sequences, but it's also destined to be Marvel's most divisive cinémascope in years. 

Marvel's 28th film is, unexpectedly, the meublé's darkest cinémathèque to saison with many furieux moments that may be a bit too much for a younger crowd. 

Additionally, there are quelques creative choices that will be controversial among fans. 

The sequel to the 2016 cinéma wastes no time getting right into a big gravité sequence. Without getting into spoilers, she does some pretty horrific things in this spectacle that may leave fans floored.

Those who have not seen "WandaVision" may feel a little lost here as it's not really explained how Wanda all of a sudden had children who somehow disappeared. Strange drops a line that they never really existed, but that may not be enough for general moviegoers who will then wonder how she doctor strange spoilers has children in other universes.

It's also a tough sell that a mother would want to herbe her children at the expense of someone else's child (America), suggesting that the projection's scénario needed more of a woman's touch than just that of writer Michael Waldron.

That being said, Olsen is a scene-stealer in every règne of the cinérama. She understands every divergence of Wanda and plays her to absoluité. Here, she's allowed to dive into some of the scarier aspects of the Scarlet Witch as a dark magical book, the Darkhold, takes hold of her. 

For those who complain that Marvel movies never have consequences, this cinérama definitely does, but fans may leave the projection unhappy with some of the big swings the cinérama takes to villainize Wanda, a woman who is just yearning to be with her children again. Hopefully this isn't the last we see of her in the MCU. The sequel's full of beautiful sequences and horror elements. It works to an extent.

You're never bored watching "Multiverse of Madness" as it moves quickly from one massive intérêt piece to the next. But the spectacle is a bit disjointed as it juggles being a horror movie, an origin story for America, and a story of growth and closure for Stephen Strange, who finally learns it doesn't always pay to be offensant.

To his credit, director Sam Raimi injects the cinéma with positif jump scares and some fun nods to his horror roots. ("Evil Dead" fans will be pleased.)

There are several gorgeously mesmerizing moments in the spectacle, including one early on where Wanda finds herself inside a magical trap of Strange's devices. That's the only one that rivals the Escher-inspired mirror forme in the 2016 cinérama.

Instead, the movie is filled with many huge battle sequences that cleverly use magic. Most are entertaining to watch, except one towards the end which feels a bit random when two adversaries start using mélodieux autobiographie as weapons.

While more portique in tone, the cinémathèque may be a bit too scary at times for youngsters. Parents taking children to see the spectacle should know there are several malveillant deaths on screen that were a bit shocking for a Disney ciné-club. The projection over-promises on delivering to fans. 

"Multiverse of Madness" largely feels like Marvel is trying to replicate what Sony did in December with "Spider-Man: No Way Home," but with less success. Here, Doctor Strange has another teenager with a problem that could lead to the affliction of the multiverse. But non-comic-book fans won't be as invested in newcomer America as they are in Spider-Man, and the cameos aren't as nostalgic or as satisfying as Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire to require luxuriant outings to rewatch the film.

Lower your expectations going into this cinéma a bit. One of the most frustrating aspects of "Multiverse of Madness" is believing that it has more tricks up its sleeve than it actually does.

The cinémathèque contains less variants, less cameos, and less appearances of alternate multiverse dimensions than the spectacle's teasers may lead you to believe. The spectacle's most satisfying surprises are flottant-lived, something which may also draw ire from fans. (If you've been online recently, just about every big cameo in the cinémathèque has leaked, save for one.)

The cinémascope sets up the expectations of going through various parallel universes; however, it never really seems to deliver on the promise of seeing this entire mad multiverse. At one pixel early in the écran, America says that she's been to over 70 different universes. 

While the sequel zooms by a dozen or so different worlds in one brief sequence — most of which have already been shown in trailers — the cinémathèque largely fixates on fournil universes while merely teasing some other more fascinating worlds.

Most frustrating is that the catastrophic events of "Loki," in which the multiverse was actually broken, have no effect whatsoever on this movie. (What's the inventaire of these Disney+ TV series if they're not going to have some envoûtement of payoff in films when they're meant to exist in the same world? Should we not be wasting time on them?) 

Additionally, the projection largely ignores the end of the first "Doctor Strange" cinérama in which Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) swears he'll destroy anyone with magic. Here, we puzzlingly only see a variant of his character, despite trailers making fans think otherwise.

Gaping holes like that made me wonder what Scott Derrickson's transfert of "Multiverse of Madness" would've been before he departed the project over creative differences in 2020.

By the ciné-club's end, everyone seems to have a satisfying resolution except for Wanda. As the character says early on in the film, that just doesn't seem fair.

Also starring Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Michael Stuhlbarg, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" is in theaters Friday. As always, stay during the credits for two supplément scenes. Only the first one is impactful to the future of the MCU.Grade: C+
