Netflix Cancels Season Two of Cowboy Bebop Series!

Live-action  Cowboy Bebop is a Netflix series adapted from the popular anime of the same name that was released in the 90s. The series, directed by André Nemec ( Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol ) and written by Christopher Yost ( The Mandalorian ) tells the story of a group of bounty hunters, namely Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda), and Jet Black (Mustafa). Shakir), who travels the galaxy to capture fugitives and exchange them for millions of Woolong galaxy money.

In 2017, the live-action  Cowboy Bebop series was first announced by Tommorow Studios which will be working directly with Sunrise Inc. (original anime studio). Together with Netflix, serial production began in 2019 and was completed in March after several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, although the production process took a long time, it turned out that the screening of the series last November was far below everyone's expectations, including Netflix.

Not even a month since the series  premiered on Netflix, the latest news from The Hollywood Reporter says that Netflix has officially canceled the live-action Cowboy Bebop series. That means, this series only runs for one season and it is certain that there will be no continuation. Most likely this happened because the series received a lot of negative responses from fans and critics, where the results were in stark contrast to the huge budget spent by Netflix for the production and promotion of the series.

Although the news of this cancellation was widely expected, many fans were still quite surprised. This is because the ending of the Cowboy Bebop series was originally intended to be continued with Season 2. At the end of the series, a new character named Ed (Eden Perkins) appears who in the anime is one of the Cowboy Bebop crew. He tells Spike that the next fugitive they must catch is Volaju aka Butterfly Man, the villain who was first described in the anime film Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (2001).

The cancellation of an anime adaptation by Netflix is not the first time this has happened, previously in 2017 Netflix also canceled the series adaptation of Death Note, which both failed to satisfy fan expectations. And in the future Netflix still has several other anime adaptation plans, including Avatar: The Last Airbender and One Piece. Let's hope a similar fate doesn't happen again in the future of Netflix, geeks.

Echo Series Will Present Daredevil?

After wrapping up the Hawkeye series a few days ago , Marvel still has a line-up of series that will air on the Disney+ streaming channel in the next few years, one of which is highly anticipated because it's intriguing is Maya Lopez's solo series, Echo . The series that will be part of Phase 4 of the MCU is still very minimal information, but after yesterday's Hawkeye ending , there are some signs that it might be used as the basic plot of the Echo series .

In the Hawkeye ending , after Clint Barton and Kate Bishop managed to defeat Kingpin and his Mafia Tracksuit, Echo is shown meeting Kingpin who was injured in the fight against Kate. At that point Echo already knew that it was Kingpin himself who had told the Ronin to kill his father. That's why Maya immediately pointed a gun at Kinpin's head, and when the camera was moving away, a gunshot sounded that made fans wonder if Kingpin was really dead.

Many believe that Kingpin is too strong to just die, because in Marvel Comics, Kingpin's story is far more dangerous than just being a mobster messing up Christmas Eve in New York City. On this basis, it is very likely that Kingpin will return in the upcoming Echo series . And not only that, his role could later lead to the emergence of the bravest superhero in the Marvel Universe. Who is he, and how did this happen? Let's talk about it, geeks.

Kingpin Is Not The Only New Character In The MCU

The actor playing Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, namely Vincent D'Onofrio, first appeared in the Netflix series Daredevil  which aired for three seasons in 2015-2018. Many fans consider the Daredevil  series to be the best non-Disney+ Marvel series to date. Therefore, many parties are pushing for the cast and characters to be "adopted" by Marvel Studios as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Where it is actually realized.

In addition to Kingpin from D'Onofrio, there is one more Daredevil serial character who appears surprisingly in the MCU, namely Matt Murdock aka Daredevil himself, played by Charlie Cox. He recently appeared in the film Spider-Man: No Way Home to help Peter Parker (Tom Holland) escape the legal problems that ensnared him, after previously being accused of murdering Mysterio. His presence in the MCU invites many questions, one of the loudest is fan questions regarding when will Daredevil appear next?

Even though the plot of the Echo series is still being kept under wraps, the series is the perfect time for Daredevil to show off, showing how strong this Marvel character is expected to be the most daring. However, how he came to be and why he should appear in the Echo series ,  let's discuss it much more deeply below, geeks.

Echo History with Daredevil and Kingpin

Maybe what happened between Maya and Kingpin at the end of Hawkeye was the main plot capital of the Echo  series which was cleverly disguised by Marvel Studios. In Marvel Comics itself, there are comic pages that are similar to the ending scene, when Maya points a gun at Kingpin, after learning that her father died because he was killed by Kingpin's orders. Of course all these events are the end of a series of events that occurred in the comics.

In the comic Daredevil Vol. 2 (1998-2009), after Kingpin adopted Maya as his son, he financed all of Maya's education including dance and martial arts lessons. This was done as an effort to train Maya's photographic reflex skills that she had had since childhood, with the hope that when Maya grew up she would be ready to defeat Kingpin's mortal enemy, Daredevil. And sure enough, after Maya was ready, Kingpin slandered Daredevil that he was the one who had killed his father.

Maya, filled with vengeance, then looks for Daredevil to kill him. Their fight finally really happened in the comic Daredevil Vol. 2 #51 by David Mack and David Ross in 2001. After a fierce battle, you could even say Daredevil was beaten badly by Maya who has the ability to photographic reflex. Surprisingly when Daredevil's wound formed a "question mark", Maya began to calm down and read Daredevil's lips, considering Maya was a deaf person. And finally he knew, that Daredevil was the Matt Murdock he loved so much.

Daredevil explained that when his father died, he was still in elementary school. So, it was highly unlikely that he would have killed a grown man who at that time was Kingpin's confidant. Maya is shocked and finds out who the real killer is then immediately looks for Kingpin and shoots her adoptive father right in the head, leaving him covered in blood. However, at the end it is shown that Kingpin is not dead, Maya's shot only makes him blind.

Daredevil's Future in the MCU

The scene in the Daredevil  comic indicates that Kingpin in the Hawkeye series will also not just die. Because the scene when Maya shoots the gun is not shown, it might be the same as in Marvel Comics where Kingpin was only blind, or Maya didn't even shoot Kingpin at all because she couldn't bear to have her adoptive father. With this plot capital, Kingpin can return as a villain in the Echo series ,  as a father figure who is trying to find Maya to take revenge or just invite her back.

As we all know, Kingpin is a new MCU villain that has proven to be very strong. Even after being shot in the chest with an arrow, then being hit by a car and bouncing very far, and being hit by a bomb arrow that exploded right under his feet, he was still able to run away from the police and finally meet Maya. So it seems that Maya alone will not be able to stem Kinpin's power in the Echo series later, therefore she needs help to defeat him, and Daredevil is the right person for that.

Unlike in Marvel Comics, maybe Maya will just meet Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in her solo series later, fall in love with him and maybe fight each other too. However, in the end Maya, who has taken on the identity of Echo, will be surprised to find out Daredevil is Matt Murdock, just like in Marvel Comics. The two of them then share the goal of defeating Kingpin together, considering Daredevil is Kingpin's enemy who is always on his radar.

Even though Echo and Daredevil have teamed up, it's still uncertain whether the two of them can defeat Kingpin. Because besides being strong, Kingpin also has many subordinates and relationships, both in the underworld and in the New York City government. That's the discussion of why Daredevil can be present in the Echo series , and work together with Echo to defeat Kingpin. So far, Marvel hasn't announced when the Echo series will be released, so we'll just have to wait, geeks. What is clear is that if it really happened, the three of them would most likely be very epic.

The Silent Sea: Exploring the Bloody Events of Balhae!

Following the success of Squid Game and Hellbound,  The Silent Sea is a South Korean series that recently premiered on streaming giant Netflix. The series, directed by Choi Hang-yong, stars well-known actors such as Gong Yoo ( Train to Busan, Squid Game ) as Han Yoon-jae, Bae Doona ( Cloud Atlas, Sense8, Kingdom ) as Doctor Song Ji-an, and Lee Joon. (member of boy band MBLAQ) as Captain Ryoo Tae-seok.

The Silent Sea series was just released on Netflix on December 24 yesterday with a total of 8 episodes. The main premise is about events in the future, where planet Earth suffers from water and food shortages caused by a mass drought. To solve this, Han Yun-Jae was chosen for a team, including Song Ji-An (Bae Doo-Na), to take water samples from South Korea's old research station on the Moon, namely Balhae Station.

However, when the team entered the station, some big secrets began to be revealed, especially regarding the bloody events that had occurred at Balhae Station. What that bloody event was like, let's go deeper, geeks.

Balhae Station Closed

Apart from South Korea, actually due to a prolonged drought, various developed countries on Earth have also started looking for alternative resources in space, especially on the Moon. They believe that what the scientist Galileo said when he invented the telescope, about the dark spot of the Moon which contains a lot of water, is the only hope for humanity to solve the problem of drought on Earth.

In the process the various countries worked together to research the possibility of water on the Moon, and even set up their own space station. However, when they failed to find any sign of water, most of them returned all their scientists to Earth, except for South Korea. South Korea's last resort led by one of their scientists, Song Wonkyung (Song Ji-an's sister), found traces of water on the Moon which she called "Lunar Water".

As the only country to have discovered Lunar Water, Director Choi of the Space and Aeronautics Administration (SAA) believes that lunar water will provide many "benefits". For that they secretly started experimenting with the water at a research station they named Balhae. However, as explained by Dr. Song, Lunar Water molecules are different from Earth water, in that they contain some kind of mysterious space virus. This makes Lunar Water very dangerous if it touches a living host like humans.

Because of greed, in the end there was a leak at Balhae Station which caused a bloody tragedy five years ago, in which many scientists died after being exposed to Lunar Water. SAA then decided to close Balhae permanently. They lied to the world that they were forced to lock up their scientist because of a radiation leak, because basically the SAA didn't want their Lunar Water secret to be exposed.

The Mysterious Luna 073

After the bloody tragedy passed, SAA ordered space explorers to return to Balhae Station, take samples of Lunar Water for further investigation. Dr. Song believed that if Lunar Water touched a human and made it a host, then that person's internal organs would produce a lot of water, as if making the person "sink" and instantly cause death. Before dying, people who are stuck with Lunar Water will feel like seeing starfish around them and feel like they are drowning in the sea, before finally dying.

Although normal humans will die immediately if exposed to Lunar Water, but there is one human clone that is genetically modified to be able to adapt to Lunar Water, even to get super abilities from it. Before his death five years ago at Balhae Station, Song Wonkyung sent Dr. Song encrypted message telling him to find the clone, because she was the most extraordinary invention of his life, namely Luna 073.

And when Captain Han's crew with Dr. Song tries to sample Lunar Water at Balhae Station, they are attacked by a dangerous intruder. At one point in the series, Dr. Song learns that the intruder is Luna, which his sister, Song Wonkyung, has been trying to convey. In the end it was revealed that five years ago SAA actually carried out a forbidden experiment to make Lunar Water safe for humans, namely by forcing the Balhae scientists to carry out human trials.

However, because Wonkyung didn't want to harm innocent humans, he then experimented on cloning himself. After meeting 72 failures, finally the 73rd clone combined with fish DNA was proven to be able to adapt to Lunar Water. Thanks to the Lunar Water, Luna 073 gains self-healing abilities and is able to move very quickly. Dr. Song is aware that Luna 073 is Wonkyung's clone, he then wants to protect Luna from SAA and decides to save her at all costs.

The sinking of Balhae Station

In The Silent Sea Episode 5, Luna 073 is told to attack an astronaut whose blood is contaminated with Lunar Water. Human and plant blood at Balhae Station then causes the station to flood again in the secret storage unit. Captain Ryoo Tae-seok, who works for the resource mafia RX, ultimately betrays his own crew and steals a sample of Lunar Water. He purposely closed all the gates to trap Captain Han and the rest of the crew.

And when the astronauts tried to escape through the air vent, Ryoo activated the air purification system. When the Balhae station system tried to clear the secret storage unit which had been flooded with water, it brought Lunar Water into the ventilation hole instead. As Lunar Water exits Balhae Station, the low temperatures on the Moon's surface freeze the water in the sinkhole. This immediately prevented all Lunar Water at Balhae Station from escaping, flooding the entire station in no time.

That was the bloody event that happened at Balhae Station. The greed of the SAA five years ago, had made the only hope of humanity at that time shattered after the experiment began to spiral out of control. Fortunately Son Wonkyung's secret message to Dr. Song re-expressed this hope, even though he had to go through various harsh realities that one by one began to unfold and made several of Captain Han's crew fall.

Iron Man's sworn enemy to appear in the Ironheart Series?

It's still clear in fans' memories when Tony Stark aka Iron Man made a heroic sacrifice to save the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Thanos and his troops in Avengers: Endgame (2019). Even though the MCU has entered a new saga with its Phase 4, many fans are wondering, who will be the successor to Iron Man. One of them that is often discussed by fans is a Marvel Comics character named Riri Williams aka Ironheart who will have his own solo series in the MCU.

Ironheart is an upcoming MCU series that will premiere on the Disney+ streaming channel. So far, it is not known what the plot of Ironheart  will be, given the distance that is quite far since Iron Man's death. The series will be hosted by Chinaka Hodge and stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams. Previously, it was reported that the Ironheart series would soon start shooting in April. Apart from the plot which is still kept secret, apart from Thorne, no other names have been revealed as actors in the series later.

Recently, ComicBook reported that one of the villains in the Ironheart series will be Obadiah Stane's son, Ezekiel “Zeke” Stane. Obadiah is the first MCU villain that Iron Man has to face in his first film which was released in 2008 ago. While Zeke Stane himself is a strong enemy of Iron Man who first appeared in 2008 in the comic The Order Vol. 2 #8 by Barry Kitson and Matt Fraction.

In his comics, Matt Fraction depicts Zeke as a businessman as well as an ideological terrorist who does not obey any laws and beliefs. Zeke has a goal that is quite strange, he doesn't want to kill Iron Man at all, but just wants to humiliate him and make Iron Man slump. Zeke is a Marvel villain who is very genius, at a young age he implanted a lot of technology in his body. Zeke deliberately did this to make him have super abilities, including healing factors and repulsors like Iron Man.

If true, Zeke Stane will be the villain Riri Williams has to deal with, it's pretty clear that Ironheart is meant to be the successor to Iron Man who both started their superhero career by fighting a Stane. So far, Marvel has not issued an official statement regarding Zeke's appearance in the Ironheart series . The series itself is expected to be released in 2023. Prior to that, Riri's character from Dominique Thorne will first appear in the film  Black Panther: Wakanda Forever  which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 11, 2022.
